INSIDER TRADING MEETUP VI: Making Photographic Exhibitions with David Campany

  • 722 Sumner Spring Lane (map)

POSTPONED! Unfortunately, an unforeseen family matter has come up and we are postponing this event. Please stay tuned for the new date.

Our INSIDER TRADING series are designed for in-person skill and knowledge sharing. Each meetup narrows in on a specific area of expertise along with an accomplished ambassador. Our guest begins by introducing themself and their work. The second half is open to the natural evolution of questions and conversation. In the end, we hope to leave with a little more insight and courage. Please join us for a special potluck and bonfire edition welcoming David Campany, made possible by The Do Good Fund.

The challenges of making photography exhibitions are also what make it exciting. The range of scales, materials, subjects, approaches to installation, and the possibilities of design are almost endless. What matters then is find a form in the exhibition space that honors and extends the work itself. Through a selection of case studies, David will explore his approach to his curatorial work.

David Campany is a curator, writer, educator and Creative Director of the International Center of Photograph, New York.  He has organised many exhibitions, and the most recent include Atget: the Making of a Reputation (ICP 2026) and Jeff Wall. Photographs (Gallerie d'Italia, Turin, 2025). He has published over 30 books including On Photographs (MIT Press, 2020).

DON’T BRING: A) food that requires utensils or B) wine. Please indicate what you’re providing by checking the appropriate ADD-ON during registration checkout.
